Fan Cans announce deals with several teams for recycling program with Pepsi

Fan Cans, LLC recently announced several MLB, NFL and NCAA teams across the country that have placed the innovative sports-themed recycling bins in their facilities this year. The latest shipments of Fan Cans are sponsored by Pepsi, and are designed to grab fan attention and boost the recycling rates of beverage bottles and cans.

Cubs, Levy launch recycling program at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs have partnered with Solo Cup Company, Allied Waste, Free Green Can and Levy Restaurants to introduce the “Real Fans Recycle” program at Wrigley Field. In total, the Chicago Cubs and its fans are expected to divert roughly 165,000 pounds of cardboard and plastic material out of the waste stream and back into the market in a recycled form each year, saving approximately 2,180 cubic yards of landfill space.

AT&T Park receives Silver LEED certification -- a first for MLB ballparks

AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants since April 2000, received U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Silver Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Existing Buildings, Operations and Maintenance (EBO&M). This LEED Silver Certification for an existing building makes AT&T Park the first major league ballpark to receive this honor and recognizes the Giants and its partners, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Linc Facility Services and Centerplate, for their efforts to achieve sustainability and efficiencies in the daily operations of AT&T Park.

Target Field snares LEED silver certification

The new home of the Minnesota Twins becomes the second LEED-certified ballpark in Major League Baseball, earning Silver Certification after collecting the most certification points ever awarded to a professional ballpark.
